Boulevard Cypress In Container

When I returned to the office today, I was thrilled to see Nancy's latest container design. She created two planters that are now on each side of our office entrance.  In the center of the pot, is a Boulevard Cypress ( Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Cyano Viridis' ) that is pruned up a ways to expose the lower trunks.  Around the base of the plant, level with the container edge are a Wooly Thyme and Irish Moss.  A simple design but it definitely makes a statement.

Nancy was quick to give credit to a collaborative effort.  Having seen the crews slightly pruning some of the Cypress gave her the idea to try some more dramatic pruning.  Then Ashley suggested the simplicity of flat moss-like plants to create a level base.  And Lorenzo helped rig some wood pieces to support the pot within the large container.  The ideas and efforts of several inspired this result.  Wonderful containers, don't you think?  I love them.  And they serve as a good reminder that collaboration often yields the best results.
