Don't Blame Yourself For Dead Plants!

We're getting lots of calls and drop-in visitors with questions about damaged/sickly plants in their landscape. Just a few moments ago, we had a gal drop by this morning with branches from a dead plant. Let us put your minds at ease: You did not kill your plant. It is not your fault. Remember, we had a very tough winter with three days of subfreezing temps. It was very hard on all but the hardiest of plants.
Walk around your landscape. If you see plants completely brown or black, there's a good chance they’re dead. Look down into the shrub at ground level. Do you see any sign of fresh, green growth? If so, it might not be dead. It may just need some time to recover. Otherwise you'll most likely have to replace them. If you're not quite sure, give them a couple more weeks to see if they look like they're coming back. Then decide.
Rest assured lots of people lost plants this winter due to the freeze. Don’t take it personal!>
