1-4-11: Rhododendron 'Roseum Elegans'

Happy New Year! Rosy pink flowers and olive green leaves are the colors of Roseum Elegans Rhododendron and a lovely way to start the New Year.

Of course the flowers don’t bloom until late June but you can enjoy the rich green foliage throughout the year. A hardy rhododendron, able to withstand heat and cold and deer, it is a very vigorous plant. As with all rhododendrons they like acid soil, full sun or part shade and summer water. Roseum Elegans grows 6’-8’ by 6’-8’ tall and wide. Plant with azalea, ferns mahonia and dogwoods. Plant high and mulch with pine needles, wood chips or bark. Rhododendrons are long lives plants yet easy to move if necessary. Due to the size and hardiness of this plant it is an excellent choice for a sweeping hedge or mixed in a perennial or woodland border. Plant now and look forward to cheerful flowers in the summer.
