12-18-07: Lavandula angustifolia 'Tuscan' TM |
|
Lavandula angustifolia 'Tuscan' TM' Tuscan Lavender is a trademarked variety originally introduced by Joey and Nancy Blum. The cultivar was originally discovered at a farm in Italy. It is an English variety and is perfect for hedges but also makes a beautiful individual plant and grows in a variety of climates. It thrives in cool coastal or mountain climates or inland valleys and deserts. Though the angustifolias are commonly called English varieties they are actually native to the mountains of Southern Europe and not England. Tuscan Lavender has purple, fragrant flowers and gray-green foliage. It requires minimal shearing but can be sheared to promote heavier flowering and new growth. Well mulched plants require little water though some moisture throughout the warmer months keeps the plants full and vibrant.
