Fragrant flowers, low growing (groundcover), brilliant red berries and once established tolerant of about anything, is this the kind of plant you are looking for? Cotoneaster dammeri, also know as Bearberry Cotoneaster, is evergreen in the Great Pacific Northwest and is covered in dark green leaves about ½’’ to 1” long. It flowers in spring with small white and fragrant flowers that are attractive to us and food for the bees. The fruit comes in the fall just in time to decorate the Thanksgiving table. It grows about 12” high by 6’ wide and the branches root as they touch the ground. For best results plants in full sun, water a bit until established and enjoy the year round beauty.
