This yew is dark green, and the female plant has scarlet berries. Low growing and spreading it is used for a foundation plant, hedge or in some other way a ‘bone’ or structure plant in the garden. ‘Densiformis’ will grow in sun or shade and fills out at 5 feet high by 6 to 8 feet tall. It is disease and insect free. If you want to try your hand at creative topiary (the shaping of plants by shearing) this is a perfect plant to turn into a sphere, pyramid or some animal shape.
