6-1-10: Cryptomeria japonica 'Nana'

Are you thinking of putting in a little hedge and want something other than boxwood or lavender? Cryptomeria japonica ‘Nana’ is a solution.

It is a green, roundish, small shrub with a lot of interest. It has good color; bright green with the tips tinged a light bronze. Nana is an evergreen with small pointed, but not sharp, needles. This Japanese cedar grows at most three feet by three feet tall and wide. It is drought tolerant once established and will thrive in tough urban sites. Use as an accent, screen or border as well as a container plant. Even though this plant is used to set off other plants it can hold its own as a little gem.
