Snapdragons are a well know garden annual, full of color and fun if you know how to make the dragon snap (most kids do). It is a bit unusual for us to present an annual flower as plant of the week and so this is special. We dedicate this plant of the week to Mel, father of the nursery and the one who brought down many seed trays of snapdragons. We potted them up into small pots, filled a wheelbarrow with them and scattered them in our display gardens. They are so colorful and cheerful and add such brightness to this rather damp and cool beginning of summer. Thank you, Mel. A bit about the plant; snapdragons are wildflowers from Spain and Italy. They grow in full sun and bloom from May until frost in fall. They come in many colors and are pleasing planted in a mass group or scattered among evergreen and perennial beds. They have a long vase life as a cut flower, up to two weeks. Snapdragons grow about one and half feet tall and wide. Plant a bit of happiness.
