6-8-10: Berberis 'Roseglow' |
|
The graceful Rose Glow Barberry arches out with slender branches covered in oblong leaves colored deep green, dark mahogany, pink, vanilla cream and fresh green. Could this be possible from one plant? Yes and more. Yellow flowers appear in April and May followed by tiny tear drop shaped bright red berries that hang on throughout the winter. A beauty standing alone or as a hedge, pruned or free growing, or mixed hedgerow, you will enjoy this carefree drought tolerant plant. Plant in full sun for best color. The old stems can be cut back to the ground to encourage fresh growth. This plant does have thorns so avoid planting too close to the sidewalk. In a garden mix it with lavender, golden sage, and the grey of a boulevard cypress or a weeping atlas cedar. Rose Glow Barberry will grow four to six feet high and wide.
