7-1-08: Salvia officinalis 'Berggarten Sage' |
|
Salvia officinalis 'Berggarten Sage' Early morning finds Berggarten Sage jeweled with dew drops ringing the matte blue/green leaves. Often when we look close it’s unbelievable what great beauty is all around us. This sage is understated yet essential, meaning the roundish plant with roundish leaves and seldom flowering is a comfort and a solid plant in the garden. Lovely to look at, it often sets off other more floral friends such as lavender, thymes even spring crocus. Sages thrive in full sun, they are drought tolerant once established and Berggarten is a nice 2’ x 2’ evergreen plant. This sage originates from the Herrenhausen Grosser Garten in Hannover Germany. This sage is a delicious culinary sage. A cup of sage tea with milk and honey is a calming way to end the day.
