8-11-09: Carex morrowii 'Ice Dance'

Carex morrowii 'Ice Dance' This is week two of great groundcover plants. As a shade or partial shade plant, this gem will light up any dark corner without any trouble.

It is a strappy leafed sedge, emerald green with creamy white borders. Growing 1 foot high by about 3 feet wide it can be planted in sweeps under trees, in the front as a border plant, or as a specimen to light up and add contrast to perennial borders. I often add it to containers as it is a great texture plant and hangs gracefully over the edge of the pot.

‘Ice Dance’ is an evergreen requiring the removal of straggly leaves in spring or cutting back the entire plant so it will grow afresh.
