9-13-11: Chamaecyparis pisifera filifera 'Aurea' |
|
Winter is the time of year when evergreens stand out in the garden, but now, in late summer, they serve as beautiful background plants working to set off the more colorful flowering plants. Gold thread branch cypress is the most golden of the cypress, holding the bright amber on graceful mounding branches adding contrast to the garden. Now it's bright green with a touch of gold. Grow in full sun to part shade and in well drained soil. This cypress is a long lived plant and drought tolerant once established. It is well suited to small gardens, slowly growing to eight feet tall by about four to six feet wide.
